Hello

 Helloooooo..........I'm back.....after long long hiatus.........

Being a full time new mother, most of my time are spent taking care of my little Hunny Bunny. As he is growing up to be a toddler now, less demanding....hopefully, I try to make use of his nap time to do some handmades. I might not be able to handle urgent customization job for the moment, but if you don't need the custom made item immediately, it can still be done.

I'll also add in some ready made hair accessories and bag charms sourced from my oversea trip. So do drop by my blog more frequent for new updates ya!

Beads Shopping In Singapore

I'm back from Singapore trip last weekend. It was a fun and fulfilling family trip to Resort World and Universal Studio. Though many people said that it is too small compare to the one in US, but I find it very interesting and we had lot's of fun and new exposure too.

And of course I did not miss out the opportunity to beads shopping during my stay. I took half day off from the troupe to shop around Arab Street and Peoples Park Square. Found many interesting beads, charms and parts which are not available here in KL. Just feel like buying everything back...LOL....One thing good about them is the beads and charms are pack in small pack, at least I can buy more variety with my limited budget..hehe...

Most of the shop carries a lot of Swarovski's products with full range of colours, shape and size. Really can't resist their sparkling beautiful colours. After calculating the S$ to RM exchange rate, I was glad that the price are almost the same as in Malaysia. Hence I decided to buy some Swarovski crystals and pearls, which is unique in colours, shape and more importantly they are not available here.

Here are the list of beads shop in Singapore which I've visited:-

1. Kin Lee & Co
109, Arab Street
~ Get spoiled with their choice of charms and findings

2. C. Rashiwala Bros
100, Arab Street 199796 Singapore
Tel: 629 333 85
~ Full range of Swarovski Crystals and pearls, many choices of good quality semi precious
stones too.

3. Sin Hin Chuan Kee Pte Ltd
796/798 North Bridge Road
Tel: 62988000
~ The shop sells other craft materials, besides beads and findings including ribbons, lace,
sequins
etc.

4. LG Beads Mart
01-43 People's Park Centre
Tel: 6536 7838
~ Lot's of choice for charms, findings and semi precious stones and other beads.

5. Golden Dragon Store
02-51, People's Park Centre
Tel: 6535 8234
~ They carry other craft materials besides those for beadings, many choices of Japanese seed
beads, filigrees and other metal parts.

6. Shino Beads
02-56A People's Park Centre
~ Lot's of acrylic beads, some lampwork beads, and semi precious stones.

7. Mix & Match
01-04A People Park Centre
Tel: 6532 0181
~ The claim themselves as the only Swarovski Create your style certified shop. Their range of
Swarovski crystals and pearls are really amazing. Besides, they also have many choices for
filigrees and other metal components too.

Singapore....I'll be back!!!

A ring tutorial in next month Nan Yang Siang Pau

Relief !!!! Just submitted my latest article to Nan Yang for Molecule's DIY column which will be publish on the second Wednesday in April. What I'll be showing this time will be a tutorial on how to make a ring, using swarovski crystals and Artistic wire. So do grab a copy of Nan Yang Siang Pau on 14 April 2010.

Meanwhile...found something in my old jewelry box recently. Two small dainty ring I've made years back during my physic class, using copper wire. As you can see the wire is not very well aligned, I must have used my finger as mandrel at that time and a flat nose plier to creat the swirl. However I'll still keep them as they are my first handmade and certainly something worth to be treasured.... :)

This is a rose ring I made recently using non tarnish artistic wire after seeing Wendy Sue's tutorial. A more tidy piece after investing on a ring mandrel. Hehe...

Busy But Meaningful Month For Molecule

It has been a busy month for me and Molecule. I got a last minute invitation from Abby and Felicia to join Gemilang Art & Craft in Time Square for the entire Dec. My initial plan is to come out with some new design for Art For Grabs X'mas Special bazaar. As Abby's company got a big booth (aka a cottage) at lower ground floor, I thought it's a good exposure for Molecule Handmade Jewelry too.

Some of you may be wondering what we have to offer at our booth at Time Square. Well, we have original art work from few local Naive artist including Abby, Felicia, Benny, Ghee. Besides Painting on Canvas, they also convert their creative art into collectable items like greeting cards, hand painted t-shirts, stone arts, bookmarks and jewelry box.

Few of us take turns to take care of our booth. It's a long hour work, form 10am - 10p.m. I didn't bring my beading material there as they are too heavy and I still prefer working at my cozy beading corner at home. Luckily, my fellow artist friends made good company and we have lot's of fun chit-chatting. Not forgetting some painting tips and technique I gain from them, as well as new inspirations to come out with a series of illustrations for Molecule. I'm still working on these illustrations and will be launch once it's matured.

Our stay at Time Square has been extended till 27th December 2009. Please feel free to drop by to Berjaya Time Square, Lower Ground Floor anytime.

Art For Grabs Xmas Special

Another exciting Art Bazaar in December! For those who's not familiar with this, Art For Grabs was held on 12 - 13 Dec 09 at Annexe Gallery, Central Market, Kuala Lumpur.

Molecule and Jocelyn (Chierr Diary)'s booth was located under the staircase in Hall 2. Joining us were 2 handmade soft toy artisan - Emily (I Love Unique Gift) and June (Little Frens.) The experience from previous bazaar in September enable us to have a better planning for our booth . T o make full use of the 5' x 5' booth, my handmade jewelries were displayed on the table, Jocelyn's illustrations, Mierr and photo frames were on the wall and a side table for the Emily's and June's soft toys .

Although the traffic wasn't as great as the one in September, our total sales were satisfactory, infact better than previous bazaar. Some people have feedback to us that they are able to browse and appreciate all the handmade stuff more comfortably as the hall was not so crowded. Further more, there are more chance to chit chat with the artisan in person and I believe this was an important factor that leads to sales increment.

To me, Art For Grabs is very different from other commercial bazaar. Besides displaying beautiful art and handmades, most artisan like us will make an effort to decorate our booth. Therefore, visitor will definately have an eye opening shopping experience there. For those who have missed this bazaar, don't worry as it will be held tentatively in March 2010. Do stay tune for more updates ya~

My latest bling bling product - the princess mirror. I haven't got a chance to take it's profile picture, coz it's meant for display only. A lovely lady drop by my booth on the first day and ask me whether I sell it. I was reluctant initially, but after her sweet persuasion, finally I let her adopt it. Anyway, I'm glad that it found it's new owner.

Penang Trip

A special fate brought me to Penang last weekend, a gathering which seems familiar. 10 years ago we had a similiar trip. Though we did not contact each other frequently but the feelings and friendship remains unchanged. We still enjoy each others' company a lot during the trip. I treasure and believe that our friendship will last forever, my dear friends......

Wire work

There are so many technique & possibilities in handmade jewelry, it's all depends on our creativity and availability of materials. Last wednesday I've a great time with Mastura over a tea time meet up. Mastura is a loving & down to earth lady whom specialize in wirework jewelry. Though it was just a short meet up, but I manage to acquire some wire work skill from her. Mastura is really patient, and she is so kind to share her knowledge in wire work with me for free. I'm so lucky to know her in person. Do check out Whimsical n Quirky to see more of Mastura's handmade jewelry. Meanwhile, take a look at what I've produce using artistic wire with Mastura's guide.

Success of Molecule's 1st off line bazaar

Phew!!! It was a busy and long hours day at Dataran Merdeka yesterday. This is Molecule's 1st off line appearance. Thanks to Benny from Owl & Magical Tree whom has given me the oppotunity to join her at the bazaar. Though it was really tiring due to all the hard work preparation before the bazaar, as well as long hour under the hot sun yesterday; it was quite a fun and fulling day.

I was so excited to get a chance to meet Bennylita in person as I adore her art work and creativity so much. Sharing the same booth, were Abby, Liyana, Felicia & Jocelyn, everyone of them has their own unique and creativity in art & craft. I learn and got lots of new inspiration from them.

Not forgetting my family members, my parents, Soo Pei& family, Soo Chia, Brian, Louise, and all others Molecule's supporter whom has turn up yesterday.

This is me & my humble little store
